Community Development

About The Program

Westside Promise (WSP) is a 10-year community investment plan for West Long Beach, an area that has been historically under resourced. In the coming years, the Community Development Department will be coordinating programs in the area and identifying grants and other partnerships to help bolster investment in the westside.

The current WSP focus is on areas that revolve around housing supply, climate resiliency, capital improvements and economic development. In the coming years, the Community Development Department will be coordinating programs in the area and identifying grants and external partnerships to help bolster investment in the westside.

The City of Long Beach recently unveiled the Westside Promise - A Decade of Transformation for West Long Beach. This booklet outlines our vision for the future and our current progress in the Westside. It celebrates the community's strengths and sets forth the 10 Commitments to West Long Beach for the next decade.
