Background

The 72nd Place Lifeguard Station Repairs Project was completed in May 2025 and replaced the exterior building stairs and perimeter fence as they were at the end of their useful life. The project addressed damage and deterioration due to age and corrosion of materials in a harsh marine climate. The improvements now provide safe access to the viewing platforms for life safety staff to monitor surrounding activities and respond promptly to beach users.
